The first award: Lumberjack Barberhouse — Top Ukrainian Award 2023
Every run starts with a first time. For Lumberjack Barberhouse it came in 2023: on 20 August the Vybir Krainy (“Country’s Choice”) analytical centre recognised our chain in the nomination “Barbershop Chain of the Year in Kyiv”.
Vybir Krainy is the “Ranking of the best goods and services · Ukraine”. The analytical centre compiles it with its proprietary “Consumer Preferences” methodology: it studies the main criteria that shape consumer choice and finds out whom people really choose in their category.
So the assessment rests not on what a company says about itself but on the decisions of its customers. For a barbershop there is no fairer yardstick: a guest either comes back and brings friends, or quietly goes somewhere else.
Who was recognised. Lumberjack Barberhouse is a Kyiv chain of men’s barbershops. We opened our first shop in 2016 in Podil, opposite Zhytnii Market, and by 2023 we were already working in many parts of the city — from Pechersk and Obolon to Pozniaky, Teremky and Troieshchyna.
The nomination says “chain” for a reason: what was recognised was not one successful shop but the way the whole of Lumberjack works — the same approach to haircuts, shaves and beard care in every location.
Almost seven years passed between the first haircut and the first medal. In that time we built the rules we still follow and a team that keeps them without reminders — in every shop, not only where it all began.
What it means for a guest. The first award became an external reference point: the level of Lumberjack is now confirmed not only by what friends say but by the verdict of an independent rating.

The 2023 medal opened our collection of Vybir Krainy awards. Each of the following ones took its place next to it, and we measured each against that first bar.
For the team it became a benchmark: anyone who comes to work at Lumberjack sees straight away the level at which haircuts, shaves and hospitality are done here.
